State Contracted Air Fares
 
State-contracted YCAL and VCAL airfares offer State travelers cost savings and flexibility.
 
Management Memo 08-12 (PDF  format) announces Discounted Airfares (Term: July 1, 2008, through June 30, 2009.)
 
The 2008/2009 contracts for YCAL and VCAL fares are with Virgin America, Jet Blue, United, and US Air.
 
PLEASE NOTE:    Although Southwest Airlines does not have State-contract fares for 2008-2009, fares are competitive for many popular California routes.  See Non-Contracted Air Fares.
 
How to pay:

You must purchase your tickets through a certified State travel agency, using either an American Express Business Travel Account (BTA) or an American Express government card. (Travel agencies have access to department BTAs.) Submit a TEC (PDF format) for reimbursement of government card charges. Contact your Travel Program Coordinator for more information.

Purchase tickets from any air carrier.

Southwest Airlines
Although Southwest Airlines does not offer contracted fares, rates remain competitive for many California routes.

Southwest Airlines has several types of fares. The "Business" and "Wanna Get Away" fares offer the best values to State travelers.  The "Business Select" rate is more expensive and is not the best value. See www.SWABIZ.com  for more information on fares.

To use SWABIZ, the online booking tool:
1. Contact your Travel Program Coordinator to sign up.
2. See the Traveler Guide for instructions on how to complete a Rapid Reward application and access procedures for booking air fares on SWABIZ.
